bottom stud on low profile ballhead

Hi,
Is the bottom stud on the low profile ballhead removable ?
I'm trying to see if I can mount this directly onto a tripod that already has a male 3/8 stud at the top, is that possible ?

Yes, the bottom 3/8"-16 stud is removeable so that it can be mounted onto any 3/8"-16 stud, such as at the top of a photograpy tripod. However, it may be a bit difficult to break free the first time you attempt to remove it as thread-lock is applied to the stud when the Low Profile Ball Head is assembled at our facilities.

Thanks Tim. So if I just use the provided hex wrench and turn the bottom screw counter clockwise, it should eventually come out, correct?
Right now if I turn I reach a point of resistance and I didn't want to try too hard so I don't break anything. I'm assuming the thread lock is making it hard to turn further.

Yes, use the provided hex wrench to turn the screw and the provided flat wrench to hold the base. The thread lock is what should be making it hard to turn the stud. If you have any issues with it please email us a short video showing the problem to repairs@kesslercrane.com so that we can troubleshoot.

The stud on the V2 low profile head is very long. Once removed, most regular tripod legs cranes and sliders (that have a built in stud) will not have a long enough 3/8" stud to thread back into the low profile head.
That being said, a deep reducer (3/8 to 1/4) will allow connection to 1/4-20 stud.
