Slider motor fault with Second Shooter

After about an hour of use I get a "slider motor fault" message on the controller and the slider motor no longer works. Usually, after powering on and off several times I can get it working again. Sometimes it works the rest of the day somethings in goes into fault mode again a little later. I'm doing interviews that last up to 180 minutes so having this stop part way into them is not good. Any idea?

Tom, If using battery power, if the battery gets a low charge, it can cause a motor fault, due to low voltage. If you encounter the same problem while plugged in using AC power, trying plugging the motor (using the same cable) into a different port and see if you get the fault.

If you DO get the same fault, try a different cable. If you do not get the fault with a different cable, the cable may be bad.

If you do NOT get the fault when you move to a different port, there may be an issue with the slider port of your controller and we will need to get it in to review.

If you continue to have an issue, please contact us at support@kesslercrane.com or 574.400.2251. Thanks!

Of course the problem is hard to replicate. I've had the unit on a loop for several hours without a problem. I've switched out the cable but who knows. It just seems to fail right when I really, really don't need it to. I'm doing network news magazine with it, and they love it, but when it fails I can't stop the production to fix it. They're asking for this unit a lot lately and I hate to take it out of commission right now.

I've actually noticed this problem, but with different circumstances. For me it happens if I allow the second shooter to hit the slider barrier at the end of the rail system. Once that occurs it fails and the tilt drops forward. At this point I have to power cycle the battery to get it working properly.

Paper Planes Channel - When the carriage hits the end and this happens, it is working by design. The current sense detects the collision and kills power to the motors to prevent damage.
