Erratic Sliders

I have a Pocket Dolly v2.0 - Traveler which has seen a lot of use and the rubber tracks have got a little bumpy. I then bought a new Pocket Dolly 3' together with a Parallax so I could use it as b-cam for interviews. Despite the slider rarely being used, it has never performed well. The motion with parallax is so erratic that the footage is mostly unusable, even at a wide angle. We used a smallHD solution for a similar purpose recently and it's performance was brilliant.

What's wrong with these Kessler products or how do I get them to work properly? We're losing an unacceptable amount of production content.

Hi Greg, We want all of our customers to be satisfied with their equipment. Please reach out to our support staff about this by emailing repairs@kesslercrane.com, please include some photos of your rig and videos both from the sliders and of the sliders working so that we can properly troubleshoot where the problems are coming from.

Thanks Tim. For sure I will. I'll include some of the footage we're struggling with as well. Give me a week or so.

I've had the exact same problem with the Pocket Dolly 4' and the Parallax bar. Everything's jumpy or "erratic", as you put it. It's exaggerated when combined with the Second Shooter because the motor won't forgive faulty equipment like a hand will.

Did you ever get this solved?

No I didn't get it solved but then I didn't (yet) get in touch with their customer support as they asked me to do. Just too busy but thanks for the reminder! I'll do it now. I tried using the rig again a couple of days ago, this time with a Canon 5D mk3 and a 50mm prime. The result was truly ugly. It felt fine when I shot it however on large monitor playback, I might as well have hand held it. Truly a mess.
